Newest Graduate

May 30th, 2007

R’s senior shoot was a lot of fun. He was sure that he’d only be up for 2 or 3 shots before we began. I think he quickly lost track and actually had a fun time with the shoot. The following shots are a few from the session:

{I love the edgy urban-acid effect on this shot!}

{I think this one really captures R’s personality!}

{Class of 2007}

{Maybe a little excited about graduation?}

B Sweet

May 30th, 2007

This handsome little guy is now 6 months old! You may recognize him from an earlier post from his 3-month session (click here).It was so fun to watch him discover the drum-like sound he made when he kicked his legs on the seamless backdrop paper. Mom & Dad just may be looking for a drumset now!

{B’s blue eyes are made to mesmerize!}

{B. took to the little washtub. It was a cozy little spot just the right size for him!}

Marriage in May

May 30th, 2007

I thought I’d share some picts from a wedding shot this month at a picturesque mountain resort. The bride & groom were so perfect together. It was a lot of fun! Enjoy!

{Connected.}

{So in Love.}

{Yes. I did lay on the ground to get this shot 😉 }

{He sweeps her off her feet! }

{Love is a beautiful thing.}

Semi-Annual

May 29th, 2007

My little boy is now “semi-annual” . . . half-yearly. Here are some fun shots that capture his six-month essense. I love this boy!

{M. has no shortage of drool. He has plenty to spare, in fact. He shares it with the whole family and delights us with a few bubbles once in a while.}

{M.’s blue eyes are right up there on my list of favorites. I just love that now he notices me from across the room, and those baby blues light right up.}

{My little sweetheart. 18 lbs. of baby sugar right here.

I call this one “slip & slide” as you can see even his shoulder is wet from his own drool!}

{Gotta love pink pudgy baby toes! M. thinks his own tootsies are perfect, and his arms & legs are made to match.

Beautiful Eight

May 29th, 2007

As a mother of three, I am quickly learning about the new adventure that comes as my children reach each yearly milestone of a new age. Age five is the latest addition in our household. Five has many new benefits and challenges . . . and I’ve still got time to prepare for the teen years, so it is a pretty comfortable place.

Then there’s age eight. Halfway to sixteen. Almost a decade old. Wise yet innocent. Adventurous yet cautious. Childlike and maturing every day.

A few days ago I photographed a newly turned 8 year old who has a lot of spunk and sweetness all mixed together. So many favorites from the session (I “narrowed” it down to 66). Here are a few that really strike me. Enjoy!

{Striking Beauty}

{Carefree. Lovin’ the wind in her hair & the sparkles in her eyes.}

{Ponder. I’d love to know what she’s thinking.}

{A window in her smile. Eight year olds are know for having these.}

Sweetness in a Silver Dish

May 8th, 2007

From today: two little redheads & a blondie. You may recall them from an earlier post. Baby E. has the most incredible blue eyes, they are piercing. Enjoy browsing!

{baby sleeping soundly in a . . . silver dish? I do love the light streaming in from the sunny window. What do you think?}

{Snuggly. Soundly. Sweetly.}

{Three sisters: you can see how close they are. You know that they are there for each other. You know they love being sisters.}

{This image really speaks to me. I am caught up by her intense gaze, yet it is peaceful and calm. I love her beautiful eyes.}

Dancing in the Moonlight

May 8th, 2007

So kids are asleep. I am hard at work proofing photos and such in the office tonight. My DH is at his computer in the adjacent room. I notice a great collection of sentimental songs wafting from his computer. I complement him on his choice of music. Suddenly he comes into my office to ask me to dance. (First of all, this never happens . . . he will be embarrassed to know that I am typing this on my blog!) I just have to say I have an incredible husband who hasn’t forgotten how to make me laugh, how to sweep me off my feet, how to add a little spontenaity in our relationship. We danced to a few songs- rehearsing the awkwardness of high school and college dances. We laughed about silly dance memories- so hard our stomachs hurt. Life is about simple things and I am so glad to share mine with such a true companion.

So–thanks K. for making me smile. Don’t be surprised if I ask you to dance next.

Paper Mache Baby

May 7th, 2007

Our little guy is quickly approaching is 1/2 year mark. He has been showing the typical signs of being ready to take on some food of substance, ie. grabbing every utensil I try to steer towards my mouth, dipping his pudgy dimpled hands into food on my plate, etc.

So a few days ago we decided to give him his first dose of rice cereal. As a former art teacher, I have mixed up plenty of batches of paper mache paste: a little flour and water, and you’ve got sticky gooey glue. M’s rice cereal was the perfect consistency to serve as back up paste for any last-minute pinatas if needed. Sorry kid, this isn’t the best thing out there, but trust me . . . your taste buds will appreciate next week’s strained green beans all the more. It is all part of developing mature taste buds.

{Big sisters take turns helping M. with milky, pasty rice cereal by the spoonful.}

Soon To Be . . .

May 4th, 2007

. . . graduating from high school. So much possibility and excitement for the future. So many life lessons in the works. Finding out who you are, where you’ll go, what you’ll be . . . what you’re made of. K. you have such a light in your eyes- and you share it with those in your midst. I am so glad to have been your official senior portrait photographer . . . what a wonderful time in your life to document!

WARNING: There are over 200 photos from this shoot, and they are crammed full of personality and spunk. I will attempt to select just a handful of favorites for public sharing.

{Watch out world, here she comes!}

{I have always liked this quote by someone famous: “Most of us are born originals but die imposters.” K.- you’ve got a fabulous way about you that is completely original!}

{What a fun downtown session! We took advantage of plenty of crumbling old walls of brick and stucco, chipped paint doorways, alley stairways, and someone happened to have a ferrari parked near a building that K. stood next to. A girl can dream, right?}

{Love the pearls!}

{One of my absolute favorites! This shot looks gorgeous in color too! She is so sophisticated and authentic. Anyone want to vote for a favorite shot of K? I’d share all 200 of them if I could fit ’em on the blog!}

A Crop of Cuties

May 3rd, 2007

More beautiful children- it has been so much fun this week to photograph these little cuties! I have photographed 21 children in the past several days (excluding my own!) so I promise there will be more photos to share in the next few days!

{This shot reminds me of an old victorian photo- even though A. is wearing shorts & a t-shirt}

{S. is just as handsome as can be. You may recognize this cutie from my website gallery}

{A sweet little apple blossom fairy . . . darling V. just needs a pair of wings}.

{A sly smirk from I. makes me really wonder what he’s thinking. I love that look in his eyes!}

{Perfectly willing to be photographed and so photogenic, S. has a great smile and so much personality!}
