New to the World

April 18th, 2008

A big congratulations to the beautiful G family on the arrival of their handsome baby boy! There is just something so amazing about photographing new arrivals! I had to post this first picture that just mesmerizes me! Enjoy the sneak peak of your session!

{Grandpa joined them for this one, as well as the two family doggies.}

{Newborns this age–2 weeks–usually sleep right through the session. Not this guy! He was awake up until the very end. Check out his beautiful eyes!}

{Beautiful mama and her handsome boys . . . she’s just radiant!}

{One of my favorites from the session! Snuggly baby, beautiful light!}

Wedding Event- American Fork

April 2nd, 2008

Here is the debut of A + C’s wedding day photos. You got a sneak peak when I posted the bridals/ groomals (is that a real word?) earlier in March. Here are the images from their March 27th Wedding at the Mount Timpanogos LDS Temple! Congratulations to you!!!

{‘Twas a beautiful day- but the above image doesn’t show how freeeeezing cold and windy it was. The bride & groom were such troopers!}

{Here’s a “swept away” shot- either by a kiss, or by the wind . . . }

{They are such a sweet, loving couple. So perfect together!}

{A little texture play here }

{father of the bride :) }

{gorgeous and delicious wedding cake!}

A & C- thank you for allowing me to photograph your wonderful, amazing day. I can’t wait for you to see the rest of the collection! Enjoy~

Canvas Fairy Details

April 2nd, 2008

A client of mine wanted to see these images, so I thought I would simplify things and post them on the blog . . . plus I get to share them with all of you too.

I absolutely love this little fairy, and she’s so gorgeous on this large gallery wrapped canvas. I photographed the little girl last summer and transformed her into this darling little fairy. Here are some images of the photoshop mockup version and original image and below are images of the real-life fairy canvas:

{I just LOVE the mushroom in the background!}

I love to create custom works of art like this- for me it combines my love of photography and painting and children’s room decor and illustration . . . and especially children . . . into one simple piece. Ideally, custom fairy artwork is created from my own photography as a starting point, though if given the right photo I would consider creating one with a client’s photo.

Here’s a collage for the same little girl’s room, combining photos from our multiple sessions. Picture this on her buttercream yellow walls . . . so fun!

{detail shot of the back side- ready to hang on the wall, no additional frames needed!}

Sand Bags

March 28th, 2008

Today we’re getting the rest of the sand out of our bags- home from a week long trip to sunny San Diego. It is good to be home, and ’twas good to be gone. Being together as a family for seven days straight: wonderful. Having DH gone at work today reminds me how much I just love being with him. I already miss him.

I’ve got buckets of photos from our adventure that I am just thrilled about . . . and I photographed a wedding yesterday that I can’t wait to share too! I came home to a full voicemail box, about a million emails to respond to, and I and I am working on getting back to everyone. Boy, do I feel loved! 😉

{M’s first glimpse, touch, and feel of the ocean. He was mesmerized! I was too–can you tell?}

I promise, there’ll be plenty more to come. I just need to get back to “work” for the moment.

Time Well Spent

March 18th, 2008

Meet C & A- a beautiful, wonderful couple, expecting their first child in a couple of months. This shoot took place outside the Logan Temple in northern Utah. The weather cooperated perfectly, and it was great to be part of their special day. Aren’t they adorable?

{The LDS Temple in Logan, Utah– it is so amazing and historical!}

{This shot was by special request. I think she makes a great little pixie. :) }

To C&A, it was such a memorable day– thanks for inviting me to be a part of it!

Stunning Senior, Adventurous Shoot

March 8th, 2008

I truly enjoy senior sessions. For me it feels like a mini-field trip. It is a quest to find great light, fun locations and to capture the teen’s personality. This shoot was no exception. Here are some of my favorites- though I could easily post my next 10 favorites and they’d be just as fun.

{just enough breeze to sweep her hair around a bit!}

{One of my favorites with a little acid action going on}

{Yes, her eyes really are that blue. Isn’t she stunning?}

Thanks to A. & her mom for a great shoot!!

Just stuff . . .

March 8th, 2008

I just got back from Logan–I really enjoyed a fun family shoot there today . . . those pictures will have to come later. My family came along for the roadtrip . . . while I was at my shoot, my little ones went with the daddy-o to the local grocery store to buy rolls to feed the ducks at an icy pond all the while ignoring the slight snow/rain coming down. They were in heaven!

It has been a busy, busy week, and I am trying to play catch up. I am one of those crazy-busy people, and I do like it that way. The opportunity cost is that I have to work really hard to keep the balance in life. This is something I am not always great at, but it keeps me striving for something. I am thankful for a sweet family who has patience for me when I am ultra-focussed on work: photography/ art endeavors. I am thankful for clients who have patience for me when I have to take a moment to focus on family. I am thankful for good health, as we have had an abundance of sickness in our home for a month and we are all currently healthy* (*knock on wood). Just thankful.

{Valentine’s Roses . . . too many gorgeous colors to pick just one favorite}

Long overdue– a brief mention of a recent holiday. One of my husband’s shining moments was Valentine’s Eve when during a major blizzard (seriously, the craziest, windiest storm in the past decade around here) we dared go out and buy some candy for S’s class Valentines. DH went into one store for *something* while we stayed in the car. He thought we’d be there when he came back out. I thought I had communicated that we’d quickly go to the other store to buy the candy and come back. So off we went. Minutes later he exited the store to discover his family was MIA. My cell phone didn’t work inside the candy store, because apparently there were so many people stuck in the snow that the phone lines were overloaded. Just as we pulled out, I could see a figure walking across the parklot towards us. He was frosty, covered in snow and holding a beautiful boquet of roses. Wow! I am so glad he still gave me the roses after all of that trouble. 😉 He’s so good to me.

Wedding March: A & C

March 3rd, 2008

Meet A. & C. . . . a darling couple whose wedding is this month! We planned this bridal shoot to include the groom as well. Aside from it being a fun dress rehearsal, it was a great opportunity to capture some images of them without the time constraints of the actual wedding day. Plus, they will have some great shots on display at their reception.

Day of the shoot: great overcast sky, mild temperatures, perfect. Then came 3:00 pm, the time we had scheduled the shoot. I ventured outside to test the gail force winds in northern Utah county to determine if it was possible to continue as planned. When my camera nearly blew away (just kidding, have you seen this thing? It is a beast. With the added battery grip it wouldn’t travel far) . . . we decided to relocate to a more sheltered location. So south we went . . . and beautiful C. didn’t complain ONE TIME about being freezing cold, in fact, she doesn’t even look cold in these shots. Quite impressive.

{Before I get going here with the many images that I can’ t help but share, I have to admit that while proofing these I watched an impromptu slideshow of the pictures set to the lovely Enya (thanks pandora). Goosebumps, I tell you. You can just SEE how much they love each other. Yeah, baby!}

{Wow! Isn’t she radiant?}

{Doesn’t he look SHARP?}

{Color pop with a side of unusual reflections . . . I think this one has a fun urban appeal to it}

{This could very well be my favorite. Hmmmm, hard to decide.}

{I asked for American Gothic, and this is what they gave me ;)}

{A & C- thanks for a fun, adventurous shoot! I am so excited to photograph you at the Temple & wedding reception later this month. You are awesome! }

Posting Troubles

February 29th, 2008

I keep trying to post some photos that I adore . . . and blogger won’t upload them. I am trying desperately to figure out the solution to my woes. Any suggestions? It made me question whether or not I had exceeded my storage limit, which I have not. Hopefully I can post some new photos soon . . . they’re piling up here!!

So He’s a Little Guy.

February 28th, 2008

10th percentile, baby! (for weight). This comes as a big shock for me, as my girls were in the 80-90th percentile ranges for the first year and then eventually averaged out to around 50th percentile. So what does all of this mean? For one, he has gotten more use out of his clothing, as he really wears the his age appropriate size. He has some catching up to do- but some day I think he’ll pass up his sisters. Here’s our sweet little bitty buddy . . . he’s too fun.

{Hello, operator? Can you help me please?}

{We’ve got a climber here- why sit at the table when you can sit on it?}
